iWaste is delighted to have triumphed at the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce’s Mentor Magic challenge.
Mentor Magic is a “Dragons Den” type event, where three Hampshire businesses pitch their current challenges to a panel of experts. The panel consists of the region’s most celebrated and successful entrepreneurs offering on-the-spot advice. Participating businesses gain further insight following a Q&A session led by an audience of experienced business owners and managers.
It has been ten years since Liz Clarke and entrepreneur Colin Potter developed the concept of Mentor Magic, initially with the Institute of Directors. It has recently been adopted by the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce to support the growth of SMEs in the region.
The two-part challenge involved pitching to the panel to win a years worth of mentoring. After a series of heats, iWaste made it to the final and successfully beat the competition in a head-to-head pitch.
iWaste’s Director, Sam Prentice said: “Mentor Magic has been a fantastic experience and a huge learning curve for Sam Mountain and myself. We have been put on the spot, quizzed and advised. The end result has really pushed us to drill down into business planning, growth, and people management. We are now working with a member of the panel who has a brilliant skill set and can only add to the overall experience of business ownership. iWaste has scaled from 2 people to 8 in a relatively short space of time, we are planning to increase to 12 by the end of the year as our waste management service continues to grow”.
